4x6″Blue Jay. Watercolor, pencil and gesso on antique paper on canvas.
Yellow-rumped warbler! 4x6” watercolor, pencil and gesso on antique book paper/canvas.
She is part of a collection I painted of 25 of the most common avian species in Central Ohio.
Beginnings of a song sparrow painting. I’m quite pleased with how the drawing came out. I gessoed an antique book page onto a teeny 4x6" canvas.
Bobwhite! They are named for their call which sounds like “bob, bob-white!” They are a type of quail.
I have to say, halfway through I nearly despaired of correctly representing the black barring on his chest. I do not generally seek out patterns when choosing my subject matter. I am happy with how it turned out, though!
24x36" acrylic on canvas, Osprey.
Ospreys are fish-eagles. They are very large birds of prey that dive into water to catch fish. They often nest on man-made platforms built for them on/next to bodies of water such as lakes, reservoirs and rivers.
Barn owls are so beautiful, aren’t they? Another painting for the art sale. 16x20 acrylic on canvas. Paint paint paint! So busy painting!
Another little painting for the Art Sale. Birdies birdies birdies.
It is a good thing that there are a lot of people who love birdies almost as much as I love birdies :)
This is a very similar but revised version of what I already posted. I made the A much smaller, which will help it be more readable.
