A few weeks ago I was featured on WOSU’s show “Broad and High,” which explores the arts scene in Columbus!
Northern Flicker (my most favorite birdy!)
all 4x6″ watercolor, pencil and gesso on antique paper on canvas
Awwww. Everybody loves a baby deer! He is acrylic and pencil on canvas. I love watercolors, but you can’t beat the solidity of a stretched canvas. So, sometimes I’ll compromise by pretending my acrylics are watercolors ;)
I thought I’d show a little process.
Spotted salamander. Acrylic on antique book paper.
I’ve never painted an amphibian before! It was fun. Thanks to my hubby for suggesting I paint one.
Did you know it’s the year of the salamander? Salamanders are excellent indicators of the health of the environment. They require a habitat with little contaminants. Their consumption of invertebrates is also important to the balance of their ecosystems, and the environment in general.
